Lynda Payne, Ph.D., RN, FLS
Professor of History, UMKC
 
"Crossing the Atlantic in 1620: Life on the Mayflower"
 
Dr. Payne teaches courses in British history, the history of medicine, the history of crime, and the history of gender. Her research interests are in the history of surgery and emotions and she has published several articles and two books. They are, With Words and Knives: Learning Medical Dispassion in Early Modern England and The Best Surgeon in England: Percivall Pott, 1713-88. Dr. Payne is married to a music historian at UMKC. In her spare time, she enjoys gardening, traveling, and rescuing big dogs.
