Welcome to the Society of Mayflower Descendants in the State of Kansas!
John Sherman, Governor
Our Society is a diverse and congenial group dedicated to preserving and educating the public on the band of Pilgrims arriving at Plymouth on the good ship Mayflower. The Society’s members have proven their lineal descent from one or more of the 51 out of 102 original passengers who arrived in Plymouth on the Mayflower in 1620 and survived the “First Winter.” The Society celebrates our ancestral legacy, preserves the Pilgrims memory and works to educate the public on their historical voyage and historical significance.
As was noted on the Home Page you may very well descend from a Mayflower passenger which is estimated to be more than 30 million descendants. We encourage you to make application for membership in the General Society of Mayflower Descendants through our state Society. The voyage to membership is exciting and rewarding, as you discover what is likely to be an amazing family history and American story. Click on the Join Our Society link for more information.
PURPOSE of the SOCIETY:
The Society of Mayflower Descandants in the State of Kansas, in addition to educating our members, seeks to educate and engage the public about our Mayflower history, the Pilgrim’s way of life, their Wampanoag neighbors, and the ultimate development of our country. Our education includes funding a college scholarship in addition to providing access to and references for historical materials. We gather as a group twice yearly for fellowship and educational programs.
All Mayflower descendants are welcome and the Society promotes pluralism and diversity, providing a positive environment for all members.
The Society of Mayflower Descendants in the State of Kansas operates as a 501(c)(3) charitable organization
