Eligibility and Application

The Society of Mayflower Descendants in the State of Kansas cordially invites you to join our Society. Membership is not contingent upon residency in Kansas.

By joining the Mayflower Society, you ensure the preservation of your family’s genealogical history. You document, for generations to come, the legacy of your courageous Mayflower ancestors and the generations that followed.

For the family genealogist, there is a sense of pride in knowing that your lineage has been reviewed and verified. The Kansas Historian looks forward to being your guide through the membership process.

There are numerous membership benefits once you join the Kansas Society.

To qualify for Senior Membership, you must be able to prove direct lineal descent from a passenger aboard the Mayflower who remained to establish the colony. Additionally, you must be at least eighteen (18) years of age at the time of application.

Select the Supplemental Form icon, add the form to your cart, and follow the provided instructions. Payment can be made via PayPal using your credit card or by postal mail.

Applicants are required to submit electronic copies of proof or evidence of lineage documentation. Accepted formats include JPEG, JPG images. Birth, marriage, and death certificates are mandatory if they were filed. In the absence of these certificates, primary documentation is recommended. In the event that primary documentation is not available, secondary documents such as wills, probate records, census records, military records, published genealogies, and obituaries may be beneficial in documenting your lineage. The advent of digitized resources has significantly simplified the research process for tracing Mayflower ancestors.

Upon receipt of your Preliminary Application and fee by the Kansas Corresponding Secretary, the Kansas Historian will provide guidance on the preparation and submission of your membership application.

Mayflower Lineage Match

The purpose of the Mayflower Lineage Match service is to determine the extent of your Mayflower lineage that has already been documented in a previously approved application and to identify the portions that require additional documentation. Upon comparing your proposed lineage to our extensive database of over 200,000 previously approved lineages, we will provide you with a comprehensive report detailing our findings. This service can serve as a valuable resource for your research, potentially saving you time and document expenses. However, please be advised that there is a $75.00 non-refundable fee associated with this service.

Junior Membership Application

A member in good standing may submit an application for Junior Membership on behalf of any individual under the age of eighteen (18) who has a prima facie proven lineage. The applicant must be a direct relative of the sponsor who shares the same Mayflower lineage. The Junior Membership Fee is $20.00 per child. This fee is a one-time registration fee. Junior Members are exempt from annual dues and are not considered full members of the Society for voting purposes at any Membership Meeting.

To finalize the Junior Application, please complete the form, download it, and email it to the email address provided on the form.

You can pay for the Junior Membership Application using your credit card through PayPal by clicking on “Store” and selecting the Junior Membership icon. Alternatively, you may pay by check and mail it to the Junior Membership Chairman using the address specified on the form.
